Our Story Description

Creating Real Investment Opportunties in Mississippi

MuniStrategies primarily focuses on operating businesses and mixed use real estate developments in Low Income Communities (LICs) thoughout Mississippi. The firm's principals place particular emphasis on the following areas:

Technology/Telecom

Mississippi has originated a number of technology-oriented businesses over the past 20 years. Two good examples of that leadership are through MobileComm — now AT&T — the first cellular license in the US and the first paging and two-way paging company (SkyTel); the state has clearly been a leader in this area. MuniStrategies places special emphasis on recruiting technology businesses that originate at our research universities, in the urban areas of the state, as well as at the MS Technology Alliance and the Stennis Space Center in Hancock County.

Bio Energy and Agri-business

Mississippi is a national leader in agricultural output, not only row crops, but also in the poultry and timber industries. MuniStrategies is involved in a number of projects such as biofuels (waste to energy from poultry litter), biomass initiatives related to timber waste and other exciting alternative energy ideas.

Mixed Use Real Estate

The new urbanism ideas of integrating the town center in new developments such as a neighborhood or building is an emerging design idea in Mississippi. The New Markets program in particular is about creating new vibrant neighborhoods in low-income communities. MuniStrategies believes that successful neighborhoods with a good quality of life can be created by investing in mixed-use developments that bring not only office space and housing, but restaurants, retail and other businesses to these low income community residents.
